2014 Primitivo
Primitivo is indeed a rare grape world wide. Less than 10 acres are planted in Washington. Primitivo and Zinfandel are very similar grapes.
While they are genetically the same grape, both clones of the Croatian grape Crljenak, the main difference between Primitivo and Zinfandel are the length of the grape cluster and the time of year they are harvested. Primitivo, with its shorter cluster, is typically harvested in early September; while Zinfandel, with a much longer cluster, is typically harvested in mid to late October.
